Deer & Horse Fly Facts
There are an estimated 4,300 species of horse and deer flies (Tabanidae) worldwide. Only females bite, using sharp blades to cut flesh for the protein needed to produce eggs.
These flies are known carriers of West Nile virus, Lyme disease, and anthrax. They can significantly reduce milk yield and cause weight loss in livestock.
They are relentless hunters that rely on visual cues. Traditional chemical repellents often fail against them because they are driven by predatory instinct.
BugAwayFly™ is currently being researched for livestock application to see if the same "scarecrow effect" can protect animals as effectively as it does humans.
